MILAM GLACIER TREK

This trans-Himalayan trek takes us into the heart of the Kumaon Himalayas and on an ancient Indo-Tibetan trade route. This trade route has not been actively used since 1962, due to the Chinese occupation of Tibet and restricted border crossing.

DAY 01: ARRIVAL DELHI :
Upon arrival meet to our representative at New Delhi airport, transfer to your hotel for rest of the night.
DAY 02: NEW DELHI - KATHGODAM- KAUSANI (1,890m) (TRAIN + 3 HRS DRIVE)
Early in the morning board train to Kathgodam, on arrival at Kathgodam, meet to our representative drive to Kausani. On arrival check in hotel. Kausani is a picturesque hill station, offering excellent views of Mt. Trishul (7,120m) and Nanda Devi (7,820m). Watching the sunrise over the Himalayas from here is both enchanting and memorable! Overnight in hotel or guesthouse.
DAY 03 : KAUSANI - MUNSIYARI (2,290m)
Today we drive 144km (8 hrs) from the heart of Garhwal almost to the western border of Nepal. We will follow the Alaknanda River to Karanprayag and then travel along the Pindari River before breaking away to finish the second half of the drive. Overnight stay guest house or our tents.
DAY 04: MUNSIYARI :
This will be a much-needed and well-deserved rest day to ensure that everyone is prepared for the trek ahead. Munsiyari is situated just above the Gori Ganga River in between the Milam and RalamValley. It is a wonderful vantage point with good camp sites. Overnight stay in tents
DAY 05: MUNSIYARI - LILAM (1,850m) 5-6 HRS TREK:
After breakfast start our trek to a steady descent all the way to Lilam, which makes the first day one of the easiest. Lilam is the winter home for the inhabitants of Milam Village and is notorious for flies year round. Overnight stay in tents
DAY 06: LILAM - BOGDIYAR (2,500m) 5-6 HRS TREK:
Morning gradually ascending trek through thick forests and scenic meadows, before making a steep ascent to Lilam ridge, (2,850m) and then descend to reach camp. Overnight stay in tents
DAY 07: BOGDIYAR - MARTOLI (3,430m) 5-6 HRS TREK:
After breakfast being trek to Martoli. It is located on a high alpine plateau with rolling grass
fields. Once a thriving trade village with Tibet, it has long since been deserted. However,
distinguished houses full of intricate wood carvings remain. There is a temple here dedicated to The Goddess Nanda Devi, and from here the views of Nanda Devi East (7,816m) and
Nanda Kot offer inspiration. Overnight stay in tents
DAY 08: MARTOLI - MILAM VILLAGE (3,400m) 4-5 HRS TREK:
After breakfast trek to the abandoned village of Milam. Milam means place of meeting, so its name alone speaks for its significance as the main trading village for people traveling from Tibet. Overnight stay in tents
DAY 09: MILAGE VILLAGE - MILAM GLACIER (3,500m) 6-7 HRS TREK:
Today is a round-trip trek to explore the Milam Glacier. There are spectacular views here of the Himalayan ranges and peaks. There is a police post located here and they will need to check your passport, so don't forget to bring it! Overnight stay in tents
DAY 10: MILAM VILLAGE - RAILKOT (3,250m)V 5-6 HRS TREK:
Trek to Rilkot, located at the northern end of the Gori Ganga Gorge. The valley is wide here and offers good views of Mt. Hardeol (7,151m) and Trishul (7,120m). Overnight stay in tents
DAY 11: RAILKOT - LILAM
Very early morning being the trek to Lilam, we will steadily descend 1,400m, as we trek the 24km back to Lilam. Overnight stay in tents
DAY 12: LILAM - MUNSIYARI : 5-6 HRS TREK:
Trek back to Munsiyari and have our first real bath in days! Check into hotel or guesthouse
DAY 13: MUNSIYARI - KAUSANI :
We will leave right after breakfast for the drive to Kausani, Overnight at hotel, night enjoy the folkdance and song (Kumaoni cultural program). Overnight at hotel.
DAY 14: KAUSANI - NAINITAL : 3 HRS DRIVE
Morning leave to Nainital, on arrival check in hotel, rest of the time visit the lake city. overnight at hotel
DAY 15: NAINITAL-DELHI (TRAIN)
Morning catch train to Delhi, upon arrival meet to our assistance drive to your next destination. End the services |
